National Coffee & Cold House

Working at Pipli Chowk means you never really get any peace and quiet. National Coffee & Cold House has been sitting here at this intersection for a while now, and we’ve seen the traffic get worse every year. The shop itself is tucked into a corner, and it's mostly just a spot for people to grab a drink and move on. We make coffee mostly, and keep a good amount of cold drinks in the cooler for when the weather gets bad. The cooler has a bit of a rattle to it, but it keeps everything cold enough. The morning starts with us bringing out the crates and checking what we need from the local supplier. We aren't trying to be a fancy cafe or anything like that. It’s just a place with some benches and a counter where we take the cash. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we haven't found the time to do it yet. When the school nearby lets out, it gets really crowded for about an hour and then it settles back down. We spend the slow times just sitting near the door watching the cars go by or cleaning up the straw wrappers that people leave behind. It’s a lot of the same thing every day, but it’s what we know. We don’t have a big menu, just the basics that people around here like.
