Mayank Misthan Bhandar

Mayank Misthan Bhandar is located right at the Old Bus Stand. If you know the area, you know how loud and busy it stays from morning until late at night. There is always a bus honking or someone shouting for passengers. We’ve been sitting here in this spot for years, watching the crowd go by. Our main thing is making sweets. Every morning, we start early to get the milk boiling and the sugar ready. The shop isn't very big, so things get a bit cramped when we have a lot of trays out. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we never seem to find the time to close up and do it. It’s just easier to keep serving the people who are in a hurry to catch their ride. We see all kinds of people here. Some are coming home from work, others are just starting their travels. We don't bother with fancy packaging or anything like that. We just put the sweets in a box and tie it with a string. It’s honest work. Sometimes the flies get annoying when it’s humid, but that’s just how it is near the bus stand. We keep the fans running high. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a fancy storefront. We just want to make sure the laddu and barfi are ready when the first bus rolls in. It is just a simple life here by the road.
