About Mamta Lassi Bhandar – Food & Beverages in Banswara
Our shop is right by Gap Sagar Ki Pal in Dungarpur. It’s a good spot because you can see the water from the front. We mostly make lassi. It’s a lot of stirring and mixing in big bowls. We use the traditional way, nothing electric if we can help it. The curd has to be just right or the taste is off. We get people walking by the lake who stop in because they are thirsty. It’s a simple setup with a few benches. We don't have a big menu, just the lassi and maybe a few small snacks if we have them ready. The clay pots are stacked in the corner. Some people like drinking from those, others want a glass. We spend a lot of time cleaning the glasses. The breeze from the lake helps during the summer, but it still gets very hot inside. We’ve been here for years, watching the sunset over the water every evening. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except for the holidays when it gets really packed. We don't do any advertising; people just know where we are. They see the sign and the big bowls and they come in. Sometimes the milk delivery is late and we have to wait around, but that’s just part of running a small place like this. We stay open until the lassi runs out or it gets too dark to see. It is a peaceful place to work.
