Dinesh General Store

I run Dinesh General Store on the dungarpur Sagwada Road. It’s a straightforward shop where we keep all the basic things a household might need during the week. I’ve got everything from sacks of rice and lentils to smaller things like matches, candles, and different kinds of spices. The road outside is always busy with trucks and cars going towards Sagwada, so there is a lot of dust that I have to wipe off the jars every morning. It’s a bit of a routine, opening up, sweeping the front, and checking what we need to get from the wholesalers next. I don't really have a big team, it's mostly just me and sometimes a family member who comes in to help when it gets busy in the afternoons. The shelves are made of old wood and they groan a bit under the weight of all the goods, but they hold up fine. We know most of the people who live in the houses behind the main road. They come in for their daily supplies and we usually have a quick chat about how things are going. I don't try to make the shop look like those big supermarkets in the cities; it’s just a local store for local people. If we don’t have something someone wants, I try to get it for them the next time I go for supplies. It’s just about being useful to the neighborhood and keeping the business going one day at a time without any complications.
