Our office is located at Quarter Number B 82/3 inside the MTPS Colony. Since we are within the DVC area in the Bankura district, the atmosphere is quite different from our city locations. It is much quieter out here, though you can always hear the low hum of the thermal power station in the background. The surroundings are mostly houses for the plant workers, so it feels like a small village. We have a very modest space where we keep our project files and meet up before heading out to the work sites. The pin code here is 722183, and we get our mail delivered to the main colony gate. It is actually quite green around the office compared to the concrete streets of Kolkata. We do not get many visitors from outside, so the office stays fairly calm throughout the day. We spend our time handling the paperwork for the local infrastructure and keeping track of the equipment we have on-site. Sometimes the internet connection can be a bit slow, which makes things difficult, but we manage. The building is an older style with high ceilings, which is common in these government colonies. We have a small porch where we sit for a few minutes when the sun goes down. It is a straightforward, practical life out here. We just focus on the tasks we have been given and try to stay organized.
