Our spot for Simplex Infrastructures Limited over in Purusottampur is deep in the Bankura district. It is a bit of a trek to get out here, past Agarda, but we like the quiet of the place. The ground is that typical red soil you find in this part of West Bengal, and it gets everywhere when the wind picks up. We’ve set up our workspace in a way that just makes sense for the local environment. There is no corporate polish to be found. Instead, you will find a bunch of us sitting around a wooden table talking about bridge parts or road repairs. We keep a pot of tea going most of the afternoon. The work is steady, and we try not to overcomplicate things. When a shipment of materials comes in, everyone chips in to make sure it is stored properly in the yard. We don't have a marketing team or anyone like that telling us what to say. We just tell people we are the ones working on the infrastructure around here. Life in the village moves at its own speed, and we have adapted to that over the years. Some days are long, especially when we are trying to beat the monsoon rains, but we usually head home feeling like we did a fair day of labor. It is just about keeping the wheels turning and making sure the projects stay on track without any unnecessary drama or complicated corporate rules to follow.
