We are out here in Majuria village, which is part of the Hooghly district. It is a bit of a distance from the big cities, and we operate out of Samir Kr. Ghosh’s place. Most people around here are used to a slower pace of life, but our office stays pretty busy with all the projects we are handling in this region. You have to pass through some green fields to get to us in Dhara. The office is really just a base for our field staff and the engineers who are out on the sites all day long. We do not have a big sign or anything flashy out front. It is just a practical space where we keep our tools and project records. Sometimes the internet is a bit slow out here, so we do a lot of things the old-fashioned way with notebooks and face-to-face talks. It feels like a real community in this part of Bankura. People stop by to say hello or ask about the work progress. We like being part of the local landscape. It is a different way of working than in a high-rise building, but it suits the kind of jobs we do. The rain can be very heavy during the monsoon, making the local roads a bit tricky, but we manage to get through it. It is a simple office for simple work. We focus on the building and making sure everything is solid.
