In the village of Sagrakata, near Brindabanpur in Bankura, life follows a different rhythm. I’m the son of Anath Bandhu Chowdhury, and I’ve stayed here in West Bengal to run this private work. We are tucked away in a place where most people are busy with the land, but we provide some essential services that keep things moving. It isn't a big company with a board of directors. It can be hard work, especially when the rains come and the roads get a bit messy, but we don't complain. It's just part of living in this part of the country. We don’t use any complicated words or try to act like we’re bigger than we are. We just tell people the truth about what we can do and how long it will take. People appreciate that around here. They don't want a sales pitch; they just want someone who will listen and get the job done properly. It's a quiet life, but it's ours, and we take some pride in staying rooted in our home town and helping out the folks we've known forever.
