Nilconto India Foundation

Out here in Bankura, specifically in Bahalalpur, things move a bit slower than they do in the cities. We are located at Hongswar Konar’s place in Ratra. It’s a quiet area and most people here are busy with their farms or small shops. Nilconto India Foundation is just our way of trying to do something for the village and the surrounding spots. We don't have a big staff or a corporate office. It is just a few of us who grew up here and wanted to stay and help out instead of moving away. The building is just a regular house where we gather to talk about what the local families need. Sometimes it’s about help with farming tools or maybe something for the school kids. We don’t have a lot of resources, so we just do what we can with what we have. You’ll often find us sitting on the porch talking to people who walk by. It’s very informal and we like it that way. We know the struggles people face here because we face them too. Bankura can be a tough place with the heat and the lack of jobs, so we just try to be a point of support for anyone who stops by. We aren't trying to be anything big or famous. We just want to make life a little bit easier for our neighbors in Bahalalpur and the nearby villages.
