Mejia High School is right there in the village and post area of Mejia. It’s been standing there for quite some time. The walls have seen a lot of students come and go over the years. We have a lot of local kids from around the post office area who walk here every morning. It's a high school, so the students are a bit older and sometimes a bit louder in the hallways. The classrooms are basic, with wooden benches that have been around for a while. You can hear the village sounds from the windows while the classes are going on. We don't really do anything fancy. It’s just about getting the syllabus done and helping the kids pass their exams. The teachers here are mostly locals too. We know the families in Mejia well. Sometimes the rain makes the ground a bit muddy near the entrance, but we just put down some stones and keep going. There isn't much in the way of big decorations, just some old posters and the chalkboard. It's a steady place. We open the gates early and close them once the last student heads home towards the village. It’s just a regular part of the landscape here in Mejia. We don't have a lot of staff, so everyone chips in with the cleaning and the organizing. It’s a practical kind of place for learning. We take it one day at a time and hope for the best for the youngsters here.
