We are located over at Manik Rakshit’s place in Jhantipahari. It’s a quiet part of Chhtna in Bankura. Maa Santoshi Poultry Private Limited has been running out of this spot for a bit now. Most days start pretty early here because the birds do not wait for anyone to wake up. They need their feed and the water checked before the sun gets too high over West Bengal. If you know the 722137 area, you know it gets hot. We spend a lot of time just making sure the sheds are cool enough. It’s not a fancy office or anything like that. Just a practical setup for a poultry business. Manik usually handles the paperwork while the rest of us are out back. There is always something to fix, whether it's a loose wire on a cage or a delivery truck that’s running late coming into Jhantipahari. We don't really do the whole big corporate thing. We just focus on the birds and getting things done. People around Bankura know where we are. It’s just a local operation trying to keep things moving. Sometimes the chickens are noisy and the dust gets everywhere on the road leading up to the gate, and you can hear them before you see the sign. We keep our logs in simple notebooks and stay on top of the orders. It’s just us here in Bankura, working day in and day out to keep the farm going.
