The sound of the saw is what you will hear first when you come toward Bikna Keshiakole. That is where Shree Krishna Saw Mill is located. We have been cutting timber here for a long time. The yard is usually full of logs waiting to be processed into planks. It is a dusty job, and there is sawdust on everything, including my clothes and hair by the end of the day. We do not have a big corporate structure. It is just a group of us who know how to handle the wood and the blades. People from around Bikna come to us when they are building a house or need some wood for furniture. We do not do anything fancy, just straight cuts and honest measurements. The machinery is old but it works well because we take care of it ourselves. Sometimes the power goes out and everything goes quiet, which is a bit strange after all that noise. We use that time to sweep up or sharpen the saws. The address is not hard to find once you get into the Keshiakole area. There are stacks of wood visible from the road. It is a tough way to earn a living with the heavy lifting and the noise, but it is what we know how to do. We like the smell of fresh-cut pine and teak that fills the air every morning when we open up.
