Ankush Resorts Private Limited is a small business located in Gordaraja, near Bishnupur in the Bankura district. Our official address is C/O Akhilesh Mahanta. Bankura is quite a different place from the busy streets of Kolkata. It’s much quieter and the air feels different here. We have some land and a few rooms that we look after. We aren't a big resort with a lot of fancy stuff. It’s more of a place where you can stay if you’re visiting the area to see the old temples or the local crafts. Akhilesh and a couple of other family members handle everything. We don't have a professional manager or a team of waiters. If you want something, you usually just have to find one of us in the garden or near the gate. We spend a lot of time outside, taking care of the property and the trees we’ve planted. The road to get here can be a bit bumpy, and sometimes the power goes out when the weather is bad. We don't have a fancy brochure or a website with professional photos. We just tell people what the place is like when they call us. It’s not a polished business. We have dirt on our hands from working the land and we talk to everyone in a very direct way. We’re just local people in the area trying to build something slow and steady. It’s a simple, honest life for us.
