Kiran Masala

We are located in Ward No.11, right on Kkm College Road in the middle of Jamui Market. It’s a very busy area because we are right near the Registry Kacheri and the Bal Vikas School. There are always people walking by our front door, from college students to folks going to handle their government paperwork. Kiran Masala has been in this spot for a long time. The shop is small and usually packed all the way to the ceiling with jars and burlap sacks. We spend our days grinding different spices and weighing them out for the local families. You can hear the loud hum of the grinding machine from the street. It’s a noisy and dusty business, but we like being in the middle of the market where everything is happening. Sometimes the school kids come in after class just to see what that strong smell is. We don't have any polished labels or expensive advertising campaigns. We just put the fresh masala in a plastic bag and tie it up with a piece of string. Dealing with the heat and the crowds every day is just part of the job for us. We know most of our regular customers’ preferences by heart, like who wants extra spicy chili and who prefers more turmeric in their mix. It’s a very personal way of doing business and it has kept us going through all these years.
