Jeevan Jyoti Ntpc Hospital is situated right inside the NTPC Colony. It’s a specific kind of place because we are surrounded by the colony housing and the industrial atmosphere of NTPC. The address is a bit repetitive, just NTPC Colony NTPC Colony NTPC, but that’s where we are. It’s a quiet area compared to the main city. Most of our days are spent seeing the people who live and work right here in the colony. We know the layout of these streets like the back of our hands. The hospital building itself is straightforward and fits in with the other structures around here. We have our wards and the small clinic area. The staff usually eats lunch together in the small break room. We don't have a lot of bells and whistles. We keep a ledger for the patients and we make sure the medicine cabinet is always locked up tight. You can hear the hum of the plant in the distance sometimes. It is a steady, predictable kind of life here. We don't have people coming from far away usually, just the local residents from the colony. It feels more like a community center than a big institution. We take pride in keeping the floors shiny and the waiting area tidy. It’s just us here, day in and day out, at the NTPC Colony. We just focus on the people who walk through our doors every morning.
