We are up on the second floor here at 9 Ezra Street. If you know this part of the city, you know how crowded it gets outside with all the rickshaws and people moving goods. We have been in this spot for a long time now. Most days start around ten when we open the shutters and start checking the stock that came in. It is a bit cramped inside because we try to keep as much as we can on hand for the walk-in customers. The fans stay on all day but it still gets warm in the summer. My uncle used to sit at the main desk but now I handle most of the daily tallies and the phone calls. We deal with a lot of regular people who have been buying from us for years. They come up the stairs, have a seat, and we talk about what they need for their shops or projects. Sometimes the tea man comes by twice in an hour and other times we are too busy to even notice the time passing. The inventory is mostly piled up along the back wall and we know where everything is even if it looks a bit messy to someone else. It is just how things work here. We don't have a fancy showroom or anything like that. Just the desks, the ledgers, and the items we sell every day. It is loud outside but once you are inside the office, it feels like we are just getting through the day's work together.
