Walking into Rajlaxmi Market at Kammanahalli is always a bit of a squeeze, especially on weekends. Our space is at 30/A, and it is tucked away in a corner that does not get much direct sunlight. We have been here long enough that the neighbor who sells mobile covers knows exactly when we are having a long day just by how we walk past. The room itself is small, really. We have some wooden shelves that we put up ourselves, and they are slightly crooked if you look at them from the side, but they hold up fine. Studio 69 is not some big production house; it is just a place where we sit and work on whatever project is currently on the table. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a few minutes in the afternoon, and we all just sit there in the dark waiting for the backup to kick in. It gives us a chance to talk about things other than work, like where to get the best lunch nearby. The floors are that old grey tile that never really looks clean no matter how much you scrub it. We have a small electric kettle for making tea, though it takes forever to boil. Usually, there is a stack of old newspapers in the corner that we keep meaning to throw away but never do. It feels like home in a messy, disorganized way. We do not have a receptionist or a lobby, just a door that stays open.
