Soumya Granites

We set up Soumya Granites out at Plot No. 61 in the Industrial Estate quite some time ago. It’s a dusty place because of all the stone we handle every day. There’s always the sound of machinery running in the background while we work. We don't really have a big staff, just a few of us who know how to move the heavy slabs without hurting ourselves. It’s physical work and your back definitely feels it by Friday afternoon. The industrial estate gets pretty quiet after five, but we are often here a bit later finishing up. We keep the slabs leaning against the walls in a way that makes sense to us, even if it looks cluttered to someone else. There’s a small desk in the corner where we keep the invoices and a very old computer that takes its time starting up. We aren't trying to be the biggest place around, just a reliable one on Plot 61. Rain makes the yard a bit of a muddy mess, so we wear boots most of the year. People drive out here specifically to see what we have on the lot. We just show them around and let them look. It’s not a complicated way to make a living. We’ve had some good years and some slow ones too, but we are still here doing the work every day.
