Chickpet is always a bit of a mess, and that’s where you’ll find us at Gala Number 8 in Jyotiba Nagar 1. It is a very crowded area, full of narrow lanes and people carrying heavy bundles. Our space is mostly filled with stock and marketing materials. There isn't much room for a fancy showroom. We spend a lot of time loading and unloading goods from the rickshaws that manage to squeeze through the street. It’s loud outside with all the honking and shouting, but inside we just focus on getting the orders ready. We deal with a lot of local shopkeepers who come in to pick up supplies. The lighting inside isn't the brightest, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it works for what we do. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who know how the system works. Sometimes we lose track of time because there are no windows in the main storage area. We have a small table where we sit to do the accounts and have our afternoon tea. It’s a typical Chickpet business. We don't try to be anything we're not. We just keep the boxes moving and make sure the deliveries go out on time every day. It's a tiring job but it keeps us going. Most of our day is spent making sure nothing gets lost in the chaos.
