Mc Mariappa & Sons

You can find us at No.101 on N R Road. We are right near the Townhall, which is a big old building that everyone knows. We’ve been a family business for a long time, hence the name Mariappa and Sons. My father started it and now we are the ones sitting at the old wooden desks every morning. The building we are in has seen better days, the walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but it works for us. We know almost everyone on the street. It’s the kind of place where you stop to talk to the chai wallah for ten minutes before you even open the shutters. We handle a lot of different things, mostly stuff that people in this area need for their daily work. It’s not a glamorous job. We spend a lot of time checking lists and making sure the inventory is right. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit there in the dark for a bit until it comes back on. That’s just part of being in this part of the city. We don't have any big plans to expand or anything. We just want to keep the shop running like it always has. It’s a bit old-fashioned here, but it suits us just fine. If you walk past the townhall you will see our sign hanging out front. It's a bit faded but you can still read it. We take our time with things and try not to let the rush of the city get to us.
