The morning starts early at our place. The shutters go up around nine at 392/1. Peenya 4th Phase is always crowded with people heading to work and heavy trucks blocking the way. We find ourselves spending most of our time at the 10th Cross, just making sure the machine tools are running like they should. It’s not a quiet place at all, but you get used to the noise after a while. We’ve seen this industrial area change over the years. Some shops close and others open, but we just keep doing our thing. The floors have some oil stains that won't ever come out. We don’t mind that much. It shows we’ve been busy. Most of the guys here live nearby, so we’re a pretty local bunch. We don't have a big office or a receptionist to greet you. If you come by, you’ll probably find us on the shop floor with grease on our hands. We do a lot of turning and milling work. Sometimes a client brings a drawing that’s hard to read, and we spend an hour just figuring it out over some hot chai. It’s simple work but it takes a lot of patience. We just focus on what’s in front of us. No big speeches or fancy suits here. Just a bunch of us working with metal every day in this part of Bangalore. We’ve got some old machines that still work better than the brand-new ones. It’s all about knowing how to handle them properly.
