Our place is on the first floor over on Sunbeem Eagle Street, right off Langford Road. It's #1/1, so you really have to look for the stairs or you might miss us. Harmony Silks Pvt. Ltd. has been operating out of this specific space for a good bit now. Working with silk is a lot different than other fabrics because it’s slippery and you have to be really careful how you store it so it doesn't get ruined. The office is usually full of rolls and samples scattered all over the tables. It gets a bit noisy with the traffic outside on Langford Road, but you sort of get used to it after a few months. We aren't a giant showroom with bright lights and fancy carpets. It's more of a practical workspace where we get things done. Sometimes the delivery trucks have trouble finding the exact spot on Sunbeem Eagle Street because it’s a bit narrow for them. We spend a lot of time on the phone talking to suppliers about when stuff is arriving. Sometimes the shipments are late and we have to explain that to people waiting on orders, which isn't fun. It’s just how it goes in this business. We have a small crew and we all do a bit of everything, from packing boxes to checking the quality of the fabric under the window light. It gets hot in the afternoons when the sun hits the front windows directly. We just open them up and hope for some moving air.
