Designer Suit

Our workshop is over at 7 & 12 Industrial Suburb, 2nd Stage, in Yeshwantpur, right off Tumkur Road. If you know Bangalore, you know how the traffic is on Tumkur Road, so we usually try to get in very early before the trucks take over the lanes. Designer Suit operates out of this industrial space where the ceilings are high and the floors are concrete. It is a functional place with long cutting tables and several rows of sewing machines. The sound of the needles is the main thing you hear all day. We don't have a fancy showroom; we just have our workspace where we get the suits made. There is a small office in the front where we keep the books and take calls, but most of the action is in the back. The air gets quite warm in the afternoons, so we keep the big shutters open to let the breeze in. We have a small crew of tailors and cutters who have been doing this for a long time. They don't need much direction because they know the patterns by heart. We drink a lot of tea to stay focused, and there is always a radio playing somewhere in the background. It is hard work, and your back might ache at the end of the day, but we like seeing the finished suits lined up on the racks.
