Peenya is a place that never really stops moving, and we are tucked away right here on 10th Cross. Our unit at 10-B is where all the CNC work happens throughout the week. If you come inside the shop, you will immediately smell the cutting oil and hear that constant hum of the machines running their cycles. It is a sound you get used to after just a few days on the job. We do a lot of small parts that need to be measured carefully to make sure they are exactly right. My desk is situated right near the back door where it stays a bit cooler during the afternoon. We spend a lot of time staring at the control screens and adjusting the settings on the lathes. It is not always a perfect process. Sometimes a tool snaps or the power goes out for a minute and we lose a bit of time. That is just part of being in an old industrial estate like Peenya. We have a few staff members who have been with us since the 1st Stage was a lot quieter than it is today. We usually eat our lunch together in the small shaded area out front. No one here cares much for a corporate structure. If something needs to be fixed or moved, we just get up and do it. The floors are stained with oil, but the machines stay clean.
