Church Street is always loud and moving, and that’s where we are, at Sama Towers. We spend a lot of our time dealing with the oven and making sure the cakes don't burn. It’s not a quiet place to work, but we like the energy. Most of the time, the smell of tea and baking fills up the small space we have. It’s just a simple setup, really. We have a few tables and the staff is mostly just local guys who know the area well. We don't really do big advertisements or anything like that. People just walk in because they’re passing by on their way to the metro or coming from work. We get all sorts of people, students, office workers, and even tourists who look a bit lost. Sometimes we run out of certain things before the day is over, which can be annoying, but we try our best to keep up. The kitchen isn't very big, so we have to be organized. We’ve been at No. 42 for a while now and it feels like home. It’s just about getting the beverages right and making sure the cake slices are decent. Nothing more to it than that. We just keep our heads down and work. If you find yourself on Church Street, you’ll probably see us there behind the counter, just doing our thing and trying to stay ahead of the crowd.
