Sky Industries

We’ve been at 408-409 in Dediyasan Industrial Estate for quite some time now. It’s a busy place, especially in the mornings when everyone is arriving and the machines start humming. I usually get here a bit early to open up the shutters and let the air circulate before the guys show up. We do a lot of metal work here, mostly stuff people don’t see but it keeps things running. There is always a layer of dust on the benches no matter how much we sweep, but that is just how it is in an industrial area. My desk is tucked in the corner behind some old crates and a stack of folders that I really need to sort through one day. Some days are loud with the grinding and other days we are just sitting quietly measuring things out. We take our tea breaks around eleven and usually talk about whatever is on the news or how the weather is changing. It gets hot in the afternoons under the tin roof, so we keep the big fans going full speed. People come by looking for specific parts or just to ask if we can fix something they broke. We try to help out when we can, even if it is a small job that takes more time than it is worth. It is just honest work at Sky Industries, nothing fancy about it. We’ve known the neighbors for years and it feels like a little community here.
