About K. P. Udhyog – Food & Beverages in Banaskantha
K. P. Udhyog is tucked away at Plot No. 227/A in the Gidc Estate. We are right next to some other busy workshops, so there’s always the sound of metal clanging and engines running nearby. Our shop is small, but we’ve managed to fit in all the tools we need over the years. We mostly focus on small parts and repairs that the bigger factories don't want to bother with. It’s a lot of manual work, using old-fashioned methods that we trust. I spend most of my day in my overalls, usually covered in some kind of grease or dust. We don't have a secretary, so if the phone rings, one of us just wipes our hands and picks it up. The lighting isn't great inside, so we use some portable lamps when we need to see the fine details on a piece. Sometimes we have to work on the weekends if a customer has an emergency. We don't mind too much because we like the work. There’s a small bench outside where we take our lunch breaks when it's not too hot. It’s nothing special to look at from the street, just a plain metal building with a heavy sliding door. But inside, we are always making something. We’ve stayed at this same plot because it’s a good location for us. We just take things one job at a time and try to stay productive.
