We are based on Bansdih Road in Ballia, over in the Maniyari Jasaw area at Rintu Singh’s place. It’s a local operation through and through. We started this because we saw that people around here needed a better way to handle their small savings. Ballia is a place where people value hard work and honesty. We try to reflect that in how we run our office. It’s a plain building, nothing that would stand out from the street. Inside, it is just a few of us working on the accounts. We don't have a big budget for advertising, so we rely on people talking about us. Most of our members are from the nearby villages. They come in on market days or when they have some free time. We sit down with them and go over their passbooks. It is a slow process sometimes, but it’s important to get it right. We don't use any high-pressure tactics or confusing contracts. We just explain how the savings work and what the benefits are for them. Being in Uttar Pradesh, we know how much a little bit of extra security means to a family. We are just regular people doing our part to help the community save for the future. It’s not a glamorous job, but we find it rewarding to see our neighbors succeed. We’re just here on Bansdih Road, doing our daily work.
