Grasim Cement Industries

We’re located over in Sisyand Kalan, which is a bit of a trip via Khanwa if you’re coming from the main parts of Ballia. We operate out of R.C. Yadav’s place, and it’s a very local, down-to-earth kind of setup. In this part of Uttar Pradesh, things are done with a lot of conversation and a bit of a slow pace until the work actually starts. We handle the bags for Grasim Cement Industries and make sure the local villages have what they need for their construction. The roads can be a real mess during the monsoon, so we spend a lot of time worrying about the trucks getting through. It’s not a polished business by any means. Our office is just a desk in the corner of the storage area, and there’s always a bit of grit on the paperwork. We know most of the people who come by to pick up a few bags for their homes. We don’t do any big advertising because word of mouth is what matters here. If we do a decent job and the cement is good, people come back. It’s a simple way of doing things. We spend our time checking the stacks, drinking tea, and waiting for the next delivery. It’s honest work that keeps us busy from sunup to sundown, and we’re just glad to be a part of the community building itself up bag by bag. There is always something to do, whether it's sweeping the floor or re-stacking a pallet.
