Srinivasa Masala Store

The smell of spices is the first thing you notice when you come near our place. Srinivasa Masala Store is over in Kottur, Bellary, right near the Renuka Temple. It’s a good location because people come by the temple and then stop in to get what they need for their cooking. We have all kinds of masalas and powders. We spend a lot of time weighing things out and putting them into bags. It’s a traditional kind of shop. We don’t have fancy packaging or big displays. Everything is kept in jars and bins. Some days we are busy grinding things, and the air gets thick with the smell of chili or turmeric. It makes you sneeze sometimes, but you get used to it after a while. Most of our customers have been coming to us for years. They know the quality of what we have. We don't do much advertising. People just know we are here by the temple. In the afternoons, when it gets hot in Bellary, things slow down a bit. We might sit in the shade for a minute before the evening crowd starts coming in. It’s a simple life, running a store like this. We just focus on keeping the bins full and making sure the scale is balanced right. It’s how it has always been done, and we don’t see a reason to change it now.
