Dipali Hospital

Dipali Hospital is right in the Main Bazar of Hospet. It’s a very lively place to be. You have the Kottur Swami Mutt nearby, so there’s always people walking past. Being in the bazaar means it’s never quiet. There are vendors shouting, cows wandering around, and the sound of bells from the mutt. The hospital is a simple building that fits right into the street. We have a small entrance and a few wards inside. It’s often quite dusty because of the market outside, so we’re constantly mopping the floors. The patients are mostly locals from Bellary or people who come in for the day from the surrounding villages. We don't have any of those fancy digital screens; we just use a chalkboard to write down the names of the doctors on duty. The rooms are basic but they have fans, which is necessary because Hospet gets incredibly hot in the summer. I usually sit near the front and help people find where they need to go. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic when it’s a market day, but we manage. It’s a practical place for people who live and work in the bazaar. We don't try to be anything we aren't. It’s just a hospital in the middle of a very busy, very old part of town.
