Running Jai Durge Building Material out of Shop No 9-13 in the Gouchi Sabzi Mandi Market is never a quiet job. Since we are right in the middle of the market area on Sohna Road, the mornings are especially loud with all the vegetable sellers and people looking for a bargain. We are tucked into Chawla Colony in Sector 4, so we get a mix of people building new houses and others just doing small repairs. Our shops are filled with bags of cement, sand, and all sorts of hardware items that people need. It’s a bit cramped sometimes with all the inventory, but we know where everything is kept. The staff stays busy hauling things out to the autos and small trucks that pull up in front of the shop. Sometimes the traffic in the Mandi makes it hard for the bigger delivery lorries to get through, so we have to coordinate everything just right. We’ve been in this spot for a while, and most of the other shopkeepers around here are like family. We don't have a big corporate setup; it’s just a counter, some ledger books, and a lot of heavy lifting. Most customers just walk in after they finish their grocery shopping at the Sabzi Mandi to see if we have the right size pipes or bricks. We just try to keep the stock levels up so nobody leaves empty-handed when they are in the middle of a home project.
