Bhatlan Rice Mill

At Bhatlan Rice Mill, we go about our work on Jagannath Road. You can find the mill near the Indian Overseas Bank services, which is a landmark most people in the area know well. Our place is managed by Gadadhar Panda. We have been processing rice for the community here for quite some time now. It’s a noisy environment with the hullers and polishers going, but it's the sound of work being done. We don't have any fancy signs or a big reception area. You just walk in and you'll likely find one of us covered in a bit of dust from the grain. We deal with all sorts of people, from farmers with big loads to families just needing a small amount processed. The location on Jagannath Road is convenient for getting trucks in and out, though it can get a bit tight when traffic is heavy. We don't spend money on advertising because word of mouth seems to work well enough for us. People know where we are and what we do. We try to be reliable so that when someone brings their harvest, they know it's in good hands. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s an important one for the people who live and eat around here. We just keep our heads down and do the work. The machines keep humming and we keep bagging up the rice until the day is over.
