Shemford School

Located out in Kharlikani Village, our school is near the new court building in Saintala Tehsil. It’s a bit of a drive from the main district center, but that makes it a peaceful spot for a school. The building is a fairly new addition to the landscape here, standing out against the local fields. We have a gate that stays shut most of the day to keep the stray goats out, and the yard is mostly packed earth where the kids play during their free time. Inside, the rooms are plain with white walls and rows of metal and wood desks. We try to keep things tidy, but with so many kids coming in from the village paths, there’s always a bit of sand on the floor. The teachers travel from different parts of the district to get here, and we all eat together in the small staff room. There isn't any fancy cafeteria, just what people bring from home. We have some basic play equipment outside that gets a lot of use, even if the paint is starting to chip off. It’s a straightforward environment where the focus is just on the books and the lessons. The sound of the village is always in the background—the distant tractors or birds. We are just a local school trying to provide a place for kids to spend their day and learn something useful in Saintala.
