Salasar Traders

Salasar Traders is situated on Road No 4 in Kantabanji, which is part of the Bolangir district. We are very close to the State Bank of India, so there is always a crowd nearby, especially on the days when people are doing their banking. Our place is a typical trading house. We have a large open area where we keep the goods and a small corner for the books. The heat in Bolangir can be quite intense, so we have a couple of old fans that we keep running all day. I usually spend my time talking to the farmers and transporters who come in from the surrounding taluka. Road No 4 is fairly busy, but we have enough space for a couple of carts to load up out front. We don't use any fancy systems to track things; it’s mostly just notebooks and memory. The building is a bit old, with some cracks in the plaster, but it serves us well enough. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just have to sit in the shade for a bit until it comes back. It’s a simple life of buying and selling, and we’ve been doing it this way for years. We know the bank staff and the other shopkeepers on the street, so it feels like a small family. We just focus on getting the day's work finished before the sun goes down and the street gets quiet.
