Jain Tiles

If you are driving down the Main Road in Bandupala Village, you will see us over in Ward No. 6. It is a busy enough spot here in Titlagarh Tehsil. We started Jain Tiles because there was a need for a local place where people did not have to travel too far to get materials for their houses. The shop is pretty simple. We keep different kinds of tiles stacked up against the walls. It can get a bit crowded in here when a new shipment arrives from the trucks. I usually spend my mornings checking the inventory and making sure the floors are somewhat clean, though with all the foot traffic, it is a losing battle. Customers come in from the surrounding villages, usually on their way to or from the market. We talk about the weather or local news while they look at the different patterns. We do not have any glossy brochures or fancy displays in the front. You just see what we have on the racks. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, so we just sit outside on the bench until it comes back on. Dealing with tiles is heavy work, and our backs really feel it by the time evening rolls around. It is a decent living, though. We have been part of this community for some time now and most of the faces that walk through the door are familiar neighbors. We just try to keep enough stock ready.
