About Annpurna Oil Mill – Food & Beverages in Balangir
If you walk down toward the Prakash Ward in Nai Basti, you’ll find us. We are in the Basadi area, right near Dharm Lok Hospital. You can usually hear the sound of the machines at Annpurna Oil Mill before you even see the sign. We’ve been crushing seeds and making oil here for a long time now. The smell of the seeds is something you get used to, but visitors always notice it right away. It’s a noisy place when the press is running, and the floors can get a little slippery if we aren’t careful. We are just a local mill, nothing too big. People from the surrounding streets come by to see what we have. Being so close to the hospital means there’s always people passing by. Our building is old, and it has its quirks, like the heavy iron door that sticks in the summer. We have a few guys who handle the heavy lifting of the sacks. It’s hard work, especially when the heat is high. We don’t use any fancy computers to run the mill; it’s mostly manual levers and watching the flow. We take our breaks together near the back where it’s a bit cooler. It’s a simple life, focused on the quality of what comes out of the press. We don't worry about much else besides keeping the machines running and the customers satisfied with what they buy from us.
