Jagdish Winding Wire Works

Jagdish Winding Wire Works is located at A-17, Shed No 4, in the Cie area. It is very much an industrial setting. The shed is large and has that smell of metal and electricity that you only find in workshops like this. We work with copper and other types of wire all day long. The machines that do the winding are loud and they take up most of the floor space. We have to wear sturdy boots because there are always bits of wire and metal shavings around. It’s hard work and your hands get pretty dirty by the time lunch rolls around. The Cie area is full of other sheds and workshops, so there is always a lot of clanging and engine noises in the background. We don't have an air-conditioned office or any comfortable couches. It’s just a place for manual labor and getting things made. We spend a lot of time checking the tension on the wires and making sure the coils are right. Some days are hotter than others, especially when the machines have been running for hours on end. We take our breaks sitting on crates or whatever is available. It’s the kind of job where you see the results of your work right in front of you. We have been in this shed for a long time and know every corner of it. It’s just a small industrial operation doing its part in the local area.
