Shind Medical Stores

We’ve been running Shind Medical Stores right here on the Main Road for a long time now. If you know the Mahaveer Chouk area in Balaghat, you probably walked past our front door at some point. The shop isn't fancy. It’s mostly just shelves filled with boxes and bottles that we try to keep organized, though it gets a bit messy when a big shipment comes in from the distributors. We open up early in the morning, usually before the sun gets too hot. It’s usually me or one of the boys standing behind the counter. Most people come in looking for their regular monthly pills or maybe something for a cold. We spend a lot of time just talking to the neighbors who stop by. Sometimes the fans don't work as well as they should, and the dust from the Main Road finds its way inside no matter how much we sweep. We just keep at it because people need their stuff. There isn't any big secret to how we work. We just look at the prescription, find the right strip of medicine, and hand it over. The drawers are labeled, but sometimes things get put in the wrong spot, so we spend time reorganizing on Sunday afternoons. It is a quiet life here in Balaghat, watching the traffic go by Mahaveer Chouk while we wait for the next person to walk in.
