Delhi Public Kids School

If you walk through Ward No 32 in Saraswati Nagar, you’ll find us easily. Balaghat is a quiet place mostly, and our little school for kids fits right in. We deal with the younger ones, so there is always a bit of a mess. Someone is always losing a shoe or a crayon. The building is tucked away in the neighborhood, which is nice because it’s not too noisy from the main roads. We have several small rooms where the kids sit on the floor or at tiny tables. The teachers here are mostly local ladies from around the 481001 area. We spend our mornings singing rhymes or trying to get the kids to sit still for ten minutes. It’s hard work and your head usually hurts by three o’clock. We don't have a big fancy office, just a desk near the entrance where parents come to talk about fees or why their child isn't eating their tiffin. The walls have some old drawings taped up that the kids made months ago. Sometimes the monsoon rain leaks a bit near the back door, but we put a bucket there and keep going. It’s just a simple place for the local kids to spend their day while their parents are at work. Nothing more, nothing less.
