The shop is located in Kandra, Salar, right within the Murshidabad district. Being near the Block Alar Khandi area means we are in a spot that a lot of locals pass through on their way to the government offices. It’s a herbal medicine place, so it usually smells like dried roots and various powders when you walk in. We spend a lot of time weighing things out on small scales and putting them into paper packets for the regulars. It’s a slow process, but that is just how we work here. The shop itself is quite simple, with jars lining the walls from the floor to the ceiling. We’ve been in this part of Salar for a good while, and most people around here know us by name. In the winter, it stays fairly cool inside because of the thick walls, but the rainy season can be a bit of a challenge with the dampness. We have to be careful about keeping everything dry and fresh. It’s just a few of us working here, and we mostly just get on with it. There is no big sign out front, just the name that people recognize from the street. We don't use computers much; most of our notes are kept in thick ledgers that are piled up on the main desk. It feels like a very traditional way of doing things, but it works for us and the people who come to see us.
