Studio Silkraft

Studio Silkraft is based out of 1756-57 in the M.I.E. area, specifically Part-B. It’s an industrial sort of setting, which suits the kind of work we do here. We have a fair amount of space to spread out our materials and tools. It’s not a fancy studio with gallery lighting or anything like that. It’s a working space where things actually get made. We spend most of our hours here surrounded by silk and whatever projects are currently on the tables. The M.I.E. Part-B section is pretty quiet, which is good for focusing. We’ve got the two units, 1756 and 1757, knocked together so we can move around easily. Some days it feels like there isn't enough room, but we manage to stay organized. We aren't corporate people. We wear comfortable clothes and get our hands dirty when we need to. There’s always something to be done, whether it’s sorting through stock or finishing up an order. We’ve been here for a while and the location works well for getting supplies in and out. It’s a simple life running a small studio like this. We just focus on the craft and try to do a decent job every day. You won't find any slick marketing here, just a group of people who know their way around the shop floor and enjoy what they do. We just keep our heads down and finish the work that needs to be finished.
