S. K. Jewellers

S. K. Jewellers is located at 186, Jawahar Marg, which is a street that is always packed with people and scooters. Our shop is one of those places where the front shutter goes up early in the morning and doesn’t come down until late at night. Inside, it’s a bit cramped because we have the counters taking up most of the floor, and there’s usually a few regular customers sitting around talking about the news or the price of gold. It isn't like those big modern showrooms with bright lights and soft carpets. We have old fans that hum and a small safe that has been here since we opened. We spend the day weighing things out, looking through eye loupes, and writing out receipts by hand in our ledgers. Sometimes the tea we order from the stall next door gets cold because we’re busy showing someone a chain or a pair of earrings. People in this part of town know us by name, and we know them too. We don't do big advertisements or anything like that. We just sit behind the glass, talk to whoever walks in, and keep things moving. It’s a lot of sitting and waiting, but when it’s busy, the whole shop feels full of life. It’s just a local shop on a busy road where we’ve spent most of our lives working.
