Sanjeevani Children & Eye Hospital

Our spot is right near the Lions School on the road extension in Bagalkot. It’s a funny mix having kids and eye patients in the same building. You’ll have a little kid crying because they’re scared of a needle in one room, and then an old man quietly trying to read the letters on the wall in the next. The walls have some stickers of cartoons to try and keep the children from getting too nervous, though they’re getting a bit peeled at the edges now. We have those eye charts with the big 'E' and the smaller letters at the bottom, and we spend a lot of time asking people if the lens is better or worse. The waiting room can get a bit noisy when school lets out because we get a lot of parents bringing their kids in then. We have a few racks of glasses frames near the side, nothing too fancy, just the basic ones people need. The floors are that speckled linoleum that’s easy to mop after a rainy day when everyone brings in mud from the road extension. It’s a practical setup, really. We don’t have a big fancy lobby, just some chairs and a desk where we keep the appointments. The doctors are usually running from one room to another, and the staff tries to keep the kids entertained with some old toys we keep in a box. It's just how we run things here in Bagalkot.
