Godhavari Sugar Mill

Out here in Sameerwadi, the mill is a big part of the day for many of us. Godhavari Sugar Mill is located at 22 546-8 in the Mudhol Taluk area of Bagalkot. It’s a noisy place when everything is running. There is always the smell of crushed cane in the air during the season. We spend a lot of time checking the gates and making sure the tractors can get in and out. It’s a lot of coordination. The yard gets muddy when it rains, making work twice as hard. We don't have a big marketing team or anything, just the guys on the floor and the office staff trying to keep the records straight. It’s been here for years, and most people around here have some connection to it. Sometimes the machinery breaks down and we all have to scramble to fix it before the next load arrives. It's stressful but it’s part of the job. We don’t really do anything besides the sugar processing. It’s what we know how to do. The office is small and usually has too much paperwork piled up on the desks. We just keep going, day after day, through the harvest. The fan in the main room makes a clicking sound that we’ve all just learned to ignore. It’s just how things are around here. We don't change much as long as the work gets done.
