Bilagi Sugar Mill

Bilagi Sugar Mill is over at 8-521 on 9th Cross in Vidyagiri. It’s a fairly quiet street compared to the main roads, but we stay busy inside. We’ve been working out of this spot for a while now. The mill itself has its own rhythm, lots of noise when the machines are running and then that specific smell of sugar in the air. It’s not a polished corporate office. You’ll see plenty of dust and heavy equipment if you walk in. We spend most of our time making sure the machinery is running right and the shifts are covered. A few of us have been here since the start, so we know all the quirks of the building. Sometimes the roof leaks a little when it rains hard, and we have to move things around. We don't have a receptionist or a big waiting room. If someone stops by, they usually just find one of us on the floor or in the small back office. We keep our files in old metal cabinets and write things down in notebooks. It’s a very manual process most days. Vidyagiri is a good place for us, even if the 9th Cross is a bit narrow for the bigger trucks. We just make it work. It’s honest work and we like the people we work with every day. It’s not always easy, especially when a machine breaks down, but we figure it out as we go along.
