Chandan Marble Industries

Chandan Marble Industries is located out in the village of Khera, which falls under the Nalagarh Tehsil in Solan district. Being in a village and post office area means things move at a bit of a different pace than the big cities, but the marble work keeps us on our toes. We have different types of stone slabs lying around the yard. It can get quite dusty when the machines are cutting the marble, so we usually have a layer of white powder on our shoes by the end of the day. The air here in the Solan hills is usually nice, though it gets cold in the winter months. We have been in this spot for some time, and people from the nearby villages often stop by when they are putting in new floors. It’s just a regular workplace with blocks of stone and the smell of wet rock. We don’t have a flashy entrance or anything like that. It is just the factory space and a place to sit. Sometimes we have to wait on shipments coming through the mountain roads, which can be slow if the weather is bad. But we stay busy enough with what we have on hand. It is honest work and we are glad to be rooted here in Khera. Most days are spent looking at grain patterns in the stone and making sure the pieces are cut right for whoever needs them.
