Balaji Zari Udyog

You can find us at Shop No. 4 in Lungi Gali, right by the Chowk in Mau Nath Bhanjan. It’s a narrow lane and it gets very crowded during the festive seasons. Balaji Zari Udyog has been operating out of this small space for quite a long time. The work we do involves a lot of detail and sitting in one spot for hours. It’s the kind of thing you learn by doing it every day. The shop is filled with rolls of thread and different materials. There isn't much room to move around once two or three people come inside. We don't have a website or any of that modern stuff. Most people find us by word of mouth or just by walking through the Gali. The lighting inside isn't the best, but we are used to it. My brother and I manage everything ourselves. We get a lot of orders from local tailors and families getting ready for weddings. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to work by the light coming in from the door. It’s just the way things are in this part of town. We don't make a big deal out of it. We just focus on the work in front of us. It’s a traditional trade and we are just carrying it on as best as we can without making things complicated.
