Star Rice Mills

Star Rice Mills is located on Amaniganj Road, which is over in Rudauli. It is a straight shot down the road, and you can’t really miss the big warehouse buildings we have there. Rudauli has several mills, but we just focus on our own patch of ground. The yard is usually quite a mess with empty bags and bits of straw, but that’s just a sign that we are busy. We don’t have a lot of fancy equipment; most of it is just the basic stuff you need to get the husks off and the rice cleaned up. It gets incredibly hot inside the mill during the summer months, and the fans don’t do much more than move the warm air around. Still, the work has to get done. People from the surrounding villages bring their loads in, and we do our best to get them processed without too much of a wait. There’s always a bit of shouting over the noise of the machines to get things organized. We don’t spend money on advertising or anything like that; people just know we are here on Amaniganj Road. Sometimes the machinery gets a bit temperamental and we have to spend the afternoon fixing a belt or a motor. It’s a noisy, dusty, and honest way to make a living. We just take it one day at a time and see what the next load of rice brings to the door for us to handle.
