Our office is on the second floor of Deo Puri Plaza on Faizabad Road. It’s near the village of Shekhpur in Kasaila. This stretch of road is always busy with trucks and traffic, so there’s a constant hum of engines outside. Being on the second floor helps a bit with the noise and the dust, but you definitely still know you’re near a main road. The building is simple and doesn't have a lot of modern frills. We have a few rooms filled with our technical equipment and a lot of folders. Most of our work is about the environmental side of things, so we spend a lot of time looking at data and technical specs. We don't really do the whole marketing thing or use big corporate words. We just focus on the job at hand. The stairs are a bit narrow, so we have to be careful when we’re moving things in and out. There’s a tea shop just down the road that we visit almost every morning. The office has a very hands-on, practical feel. There’s no receptionist at the front; if the phone rings, one of us just grabs it. We’re often out in the field too, so the office is mainly a place for us to gather our notes and write up our reports. It’s a straightforward, no-nonsense kind of place where the work always comes first before anything else.
